Hon Heo Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Hon Trcm Cape, Hon Chong Harbour, Ha Tien coastal area (E = 10°11'; E = 104°31'). The name of the formation is that of an island belonging to the Ba Lua Archipelago, Gulf of Thailand, Kien Giang Province.

Lithology and Thickness
Organic-rich claystone: Black, carbonaceous shale with interbed thickncss varying from 10 to 20 cm, containing many spores. The total thickness of the formation in this section is 450 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Upper contact
It has unclear or tectonic contact with other formations. Regionally, the next younger unit is the Ha Tiem Fm of Early Permian age.
Regional extent
In the part of the scction situated near the Hon Trem Cape almost all the beds dip 60-75°, plunging southeastwards. In the part of the scction extending from the Doi Xanh Hotel to Hon Chong Harbour the attitude of the beds changes continuously, plunging mainly southeastwards and northwestwards; and in the last part of the section the beds plunge northwestwards with the dip changing from 25 to 75°, locally up to nearly 90°.
